Which is the strongest team in IPL 2019

Here we go!! The 12th season of the Indian Premier League is about to start. The 2019 IPL begins on March 23rd when the Chennai Super Kings do battle with the Royal Challengers Bangalore. There are 8 teams competing this season. In addition to the afore-mentioned Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the IPL also features the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Sunrisers Hyderabad, the Mumbai Indians, the Delhi Capitals, the Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab.

6 of the teams will play 4 matches, 2 at home and 2 away. 2 teams, Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals will play 5 matches, 2 at home and 3 away. The IPL first phase will be decided on a league basis with the top 4 teams going into the playoffs with the final scheduled to be played in the M A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

So, the big question is, who is going to win the 2019 IPL. The Chennai Super Kings are the holders and no doubt will challenge strongly again this year. Success after all breeds success. They have great players and leaders as in Dhoni and Bravo and will be hard to stop, we expect them to at least make the knock out stages. Mumbai Indians had a dreadful 2018 IPL and failed to make the knock out stages. Let’s hope that not to happen again this year. Mumbai simply have too many class players with Bumrah and Sharma standing out.

Royal Challengers Bangalore have a young and vibrant team and a very clever coach in Daniel Vettori, their bowling is their strength with Chahal the stand-out player. This could be their year for the Challengers to challenge strongly. the 4th team to make the knockout stages is wide open. Based on the previous IPL performances and current squad it would be the Kolkata Knight Riders. They’ve consistantly been one of the best teams in recent years, making the knock out stages in the last 3 years. That experience and consistency will stand to them in 2019.

As for the overall winners then, we have a funny feeling that this may be the year for youth to take center stage and in that case, it would be the Royal Challengers Bangalore to have a historic year and bring the trophy home. Their youth and exuberance will prevail, probably over the Mumbai Indians in the final. It looks like it is going to be a fascinating campaign and we cannot wait for it to begin.
